What they do – the short version . . .
- Customers contact SteamCo about needed inspections, tests or removals.

SteamCo is an Alberta environmental consultancy centred on asbestos testing and removal. They also do mold inspections and removal.
SteamCo works out of a home office and can be relocated just about anywhere in Southern Alberta.
Their policies and procedures follow the Alberta Asbestos Manual for asbestos abatement and the IICRC S520 for mold removal.
They maintain an inventory of sample collection items worth less than $3000 at any given time depending on the size of their current project and its anticipated duration.
Staff consists of about half a dozen employees. Including the owner, there are three key-men.
Everyone in the firm requires Asbestos Abatement Certification.
In addition to the Asbestos Abatement Certification, staff also have Asbestos Worker Certification, WHIMIS, First Aid, Fall Arrest, and Scissor Lift Certification.
There is a trained First Aid Attendant on staff.
Staff turnover is low. They have had two staffers leave over the past three years.
Their busy period is usually through spring and well into fall. January is slow.
SteamCo’s equipment consists of a truck and trailer. The truck is well maintained and the trailer is brand new. Their Negative Air Machines, used for the past 2-3 years, are all in good working order.
They do all their own maintenance except for when certified technicians are required. There is some warranty time left on some equipment and all is in good working order.
The seller believes business could expand without the need for new equipment.
Their books are kept by a professional bookkeeper coming once a month.
WCB is current and up to date each month. There has been only 1 claim in 4 years
SteamCo’s customers receive the firms services at their own premises.
The seller estimate customers are sourced 40% from their excellent web site, 40% repeat and 20% are referrals.
SteamCo has a presence on Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In, Google+ and enjoys an A+ rating with the BBB.
There is little customer concentration. Only 10 percent or so of their revenue comes from their top 5 customers.

A. The owner will need to estimate, sell, invoice and collect, market and manage a PM or the project itself, the talent of sales is the most important, organization skills and management skills

A. A start up cost from scratch would be approximately $100,000 plus the operating costs to build up to our level of revenues.

A. There are no bad debts.
